I plan to depart at around 10am.
Well, I got out just before 11:00am and rode through some Portland traffic on my way south on 205. I pushed 114 miles to the Oak Grove rest area where I stopped to pee and noticed that my right front fork leg is leaking oil onto the brake disk.
In Eugene, I got gas, stopped at a Harbor Freight to buy some epoxy putty which I will use when mounting the Carpuride on the scooter in Stockholm. I also bought some cheap calipers to help me measure to design a proper mount. Then over to Walmart to buy a bicycle cable lock so I can leave my suit and helmet on the bike when hiking.
I felt guilty that I'm not taking any pictures, so I stopped at the Historic Lowell Covered Bridge.
After a really nice ride up Hwy 58, I stopped at the Beaver Marsh rest area to wipe down the front brake disc with toilet paper. The brake works better. Not great, but better.
Into Klamath, got gas and then found a grocery store where I bought a salad bar dinner and ate it out front on the sidewalk. The scooter wins in the convenience area again because it is much easier to carry groceries in a bag between your feet to find a nicer place to eat.
Beautiful ride through Modoc State Forest. Highway patrol is out ticketing speeders. Never saw any deer, but I was worried about them as the sun was setting. Got some beautiful pano shots coming down towards Lassen, then into Fall River. Checked in, talked to a motorcycling couple, then went out to fill my gas for tomorrow.
Uploaded my shots, called Kathi, wrote this up, then to bed at midnight. So much for getting to bed early!
