This morning we woke to an absolutely beautiful spring day. Alessandro walked 3km up to Cita Alta to have breakfast with us in the hotel. We had a good time speaking Italian and talking about culture, Italy, and Motorcycles. Then, at 10:30 we checked out, packed the bike, said our good-byes, and rode about an hour back to Mototouring in Milano. We got there a couple of minutes before noon, saw Eligio, dropped off the bike, repacked our bags, and walked to the bus stop about 500 meters away. Caught the 53 bus to Udine metro, then the M2 a few stops into Milano Centrali. We bought train tickets to Genova which departed about 1 hour later at 2:30pm. Then into the Milano Centrali Market for some lunch before boarding the train. The train ride was about 2 hrs putting us in Genova Princepi at 4:30. Then a two stop ride on the metro to San Giorgio which is a mere 400 meters from our apartment in Genova. The Apartment is quirky and super well located in the downtown area, very near the port. It's a loft with a 2nd floor, a steep stair with low headroom, and a very weird bathroom with a low ceiling. Again watch your head!
Chris went out for a walk to understand the area and check out the laundromat. Then Kathi chose Zupp for dinner. This was a very pleasant surprise. The food was really good. We had bacala (cod) with pine nuts, olives, and salad and then a couple of soups. The Ministrone was like nothing I've ever had before, spectacular. Then we had a nice chat with the waitress and choose the suprise-me desert of the day. Sour cherries on vanilla ice-cream. Heavenly.
On our walk back, we wandered through a sea of parked motorcycles near the San Giorgio station, then bought fruit from one of the several fruit stalls near our apartment.
