The Motochecker and Two Spare Tires met me at Accra Kotoka International Airport. The arrival was easy --- the airport is small without many arrivals. First the Yellow Fever card check, then passport control, then grab my bags and go to customs. They had a "happy new-year donation box" into which I put $2 and the inspector waved me through. And there was Dan with Joseph taking a video. We loaded my bags into Joseph's G-Wagon and went to breakfast at Fugo Bar and Restaurant close to 9am. After breakfast, we checked me into the Ibis Styles Airport Hotel (a bit expensive at about $150/night), but pretty nice with a very nice breakfast buffet. I rested for a bit, then Dan picked me up for the 2pm rider's meeting at his father's motorcycle shop Robust Engineering Services. There I met the other riders and started to learn faces and names. I also say my Blue and Black Ténéré 700, mounted my tail rack and phone charger/holder.
Charles Mensah picked up a rider that was passing through from South Africa to Morocco. His name is Sthe and he's riding a heavily loaded R1250 GS. He had some words of caution about visas saying some border crossings don't have the equipment to process an eVisa. He recommended we go to the embassies of Sierra Leone and Guinea to get my eVisa's converted to passport stamps.
