Drive and Ferry to Explore Gozo

Took off early afternoon for Gozo. Made it to the ferry just before it was leaving and didn’t have to drive up the ramp to the second floor.

Went to Victoria first. After parking close to downtown, we stopped at a park xxxx for a snack. We had brought food from last night's dinner and finished it off so we wouldn’t be hungry as we walked around.

The first stop was the walled city/ castle, then down the Main Street. It was fairly small. We next drove to Xwejni Bay beach area. On the way to the beach we ended up down a very narrow, busy road that was stalled in gridlock until a car backed up and let our direction through.

We paused for a mixed berry fruit smoothie and Oreo milkshake at a small stand called SaltSide - Xwejni Kiosk. Then walked around the coastline.

On the way back we were line 8 for the ferry. We were the second ferry. We spent longer waiting for everyone to get on than waiting for the ferry. We got to go on the main level again just missing having to go up the ramp.

We drove to the Krepree in Mosta to eat dinner before getting home. We both had savory crepes.

The remaining ride home was a mess again in the dark as we neared our area. Chris’s phone went off as we were in a roundabout. Then we missed an off ramp, then had trouble with google taking time to reroute before we could go a reasonable direction. The last 5 minutes took an extra half hour.

Ferry to Gozo

We arrived just in time and drove right on so didn't have a chance to take any pictures of the loading. Interestingly, they don't collect a fare on the northbound trip to Gozo, but they do on the return. An efficient simplification.

World Record Rock

World Record Rock This monument commemorates Nicky Farrugia’s swim. On July 1985, Nicky Farrugia became the first person to swim from Sicily to Gozo, completing the 82 km (51 miles) crossing in 30 hours and 17 minutes. He started from Punta Secca, Sicily and finished at Xwejni Bay, Gozo.

Return ferry from Gozo

The return from Gozo is not free like getting to Gozo. Also, this late on Sunday, a lot of people are returning, so we had to wait for a 2nd ferry, maybe 15 or 30 minutes. The crossing time is only 25 minutes.
