2nd day in Malta, Dingli Cliffs, Rabat, Mdina, and Marsaxlokk

Another nice breakfast, but getting a bit monotonous, same thing 3 days in a row. It’s cloudy today with a chance of rain in the afternoon, so not sure where we will go today.

Took off around noon and drove across the island to Dingli Cliffs. Starting to get used to the driving, less stressed out. Parking at the cliffs was easy and the walk was very nice. On the way back, bought strawberries from a vendor at the cliff edge. Then we drove to Rabat, parked and walked across Rabat to Mdina. Stopped along the way in the center of Rabat at Coffee Circus Smile for a sandwich and a salad. Sat on the rooftop to look over the city.

The old capital of Mdina is a walled city/fort/castle similar to a smaller version of Urbino. Really nice. Hard to imagine that people actually live in the city. Would be weird to be a resident with tourists walking through your narrow streets all.the.time.

Walking back, Chris had chest pains again, not as bad, but still worrying.

Drove to Marsaxlokk, parked and walked to the waterfront to admire the colorful boats. Wanted to have fresh seafood. Kathi chose a place, Harbor by Johann, and we had catch of the day Meagre 800g for 48 euros. The waiter went across the street and bought the fish from a fisherman after we ordered it.

More chest pains waking back to the car. Then quite a challenge getting out of the town with road construction blocking the almost-only-way-out. But just drove away from the city for a while, then let GPS guide us back without it taking us back into the construction zone.

When we got home, our Kindle would not turn on. Put it on the charger and it seems to charge, but never turns on. I’m annoyed. I was really enjoying Hari Yuval’s book about information networks.

Kathi took a bunch of pictures out the window while we were driving across Malta. Tree-lined roads, stone walls, and beige stone or stucco buildings. Malta has a very distinctive look.
