8:50am off to get ahead of the rain that arrives around 1pm

Down to Freycinet - walked path to peak

Freycinet

Wallaby mom and her Joey. Definitely a Wallaby this time — just look at her pointy nose.

Now about that wallaby / kangaroo distinction, I'm not so sure. The nose looks the same as the ones we saw a bit north in Bicheno.

An artsy bench

11:10am left view point to walk back, then ride on. Stopped at …to eat snacks at a turn off picnic table.

A picnic stop on the B34 Lake Leake highway

Lots of dirt roads would make for a great dual-sport adventure in Tasmania (later in the year when it's warmer and maybe not so wet)

JJ's Bakery in Campbell Town

1:30pm at JJ's bakery in Campbell Town, needing to keep moving. Started raining enough that we got soaked again.

Richmond Cafe and takeway late lunch and refuge from the rain

uggh, the rain is a bitch!

after getting soaked we pulled off at 3:25 in Richmond Cafe and takeaway in Richmond to dry off a bit before getting back in the rain. Had a meal of grilled Barramundi (a whole fish) while waiting. It was very tasty. Portions of fish in Australia are very big — a nice thing about large portions.

4:00pm decided to brave the rain and just get to the Hobart hotel.

4:50 dry clothes on at hotel. Showers to warm up.

8:10 off to find food but can't get back in since it's after 6 and we didn't get the outdoor key, so Chris runs off in the rain to collect a few things from the local grocery - two soups (we have a microwave), cheese, bread, yogurt, bananas, thin rice crackers. We have another dinner party.

Notice how many more pictures we take when the weather is nice. Sorry there is so little to show, but stopping when you are soaked and trying to use a touch-screen phone camera when it's covered with water is just no fun.
