We met up with Alec for coffee and pastry at Bonjour Amour near our apartment. Good coffee and very fancy baked goods and a long line.
We walked through Nice Old Town and then climbed to Colline du Château and fabulous views of Nice all the way to Antibes to the West and Port Lympia to the East. We even got a view of Sir Elton John's house.
Then back down to the city where we had a socca lunch at Chez Thérésa.
Tram to Parc Phenix zoo and botanical gardens where we walked around for a couple of hours.
Then back to the city for dinner at another Eatsy bowl place (good, healthy food).
Every day at exactly noon, a booming sound echoes across Nice, France, from the Colline du Château (Castle Hill). This quirky, century-old ritual—known as the Noon Cannon (Le Canon de Midi)—dates back to 1861 when a British resident, Sir Thomas Coventry, requested the blast to remind his wife it was time to come home for lunch. We are rushing to be there, or at least nearby, when it is fired.
