Had breakfast in the hotel (OK, the hotel is really nice but Italian breakfasts are kind of slim).
Went out to do laundry. At the laundromat, I didn’t read the instructions carefully thinking the machine was a change machine, but no, it’s a cash machine controller. It took my €10, waited for 5 minutes, then timed out! Fortunately, another African guy tried to use the controller and he spoke English very well. We explained our problem and he talked to the woman there and she refunded our €10. Then we did our wash and dry. We talked to the guy (Damos Adam Conde) for a bit and found he is from East Guinea. Shared pics from AIS5 and Yaraoulena. He is from xxx, Guinea. He came back with his girlfriend and talked some more. She has visited NY and wants to go to Orlando FL. We exchanged contact info and invited them to visit someday.
Nice walk back to the hotel, stopping at XXX to buy another (4th) roll. They now know me as a regular and just grab my order of one roll. Hung out for half hour then walk to catch a train to Lucca.
Lucca was really nice, walked the wall around the city, then went
into town and had lunch, soups and ravioli at xxx. Then walked the
streets for an hour before heading back to the wall. Finished the
loop just in time to make a train back to Viareggio. Had gelato on
the way back to the hotel, then read Nexus and watched videos.
