Tuesday Palermo to Rome

Up early since Andrea is driving us to the airport at 9am. Got up, had a super anemic shower, made coffee, and packed our stuff. Andrea was there at 8:55am with his mother.

Nice drive to the airport. Andrea is a super host even if his place is a bit musty and really old. On departure, he asked for a Sicilian-double-cheek-kiss. Really nice guy. If I come back to Sicily, I will look him up again.

The airport checkin went smoothly, didn’t open until exactly 2 hrs before the flight. Then upstairs looking for something to eat. We weren’t sure which side of security we should wait. Turns out the choices on the gates side were a little better. Chris had an arancini while Kathi had a focaccia with tomato and motz.

The coffee order was not communicated to the barista, you take your receipt to him and he makes your drink. Kathi’s coffee did not say decaffinato.

Flight was about 40 minutes late, but loaded smoothly from both ends. We walked down the jetway, then down stairs and across the ramp to airstairs. Boeing 737 RyanAir, 1h30m to Rome.

In the Rome airport, our bags were out before we reached the claim area, then bought train tickets €14 each and walked 10 minute to the train station. The ride was quick and smooth and we arrived at the Rome Termini 15 minutes before we expected. I guess they include train stop and unload time in the schedule.

Then a quick walk to our apartment where we met ????. He speaks fast Italian/English and had lots and lots to say, of which I (Kathi) understood maybe 30%. Finally we were shown our room. Pretty nice.

Then we went out for a walk, got some early dinner at xxxx (Ciconi de pepe and a Poke bowl of Avocado, Black rice, salmon, walnuts). Then back to the room where we were introduced to the old house dog then early to bed.

Kathi had a rough night --- she’s coming down with something that has her temperature up and kills her sleep.
