2025 Italian Lessons, Mon April 07, 2025

We headed down for breakfast about 9am, packed up and left about 11am.

Tried to get on bus 60 but it never seemed to arrive. A women recommended a tram to take to switch to another. We got off possibly a stop too early to Milan central, but while walking towards the centrale saw the bus we were supposed to take and able to get on in time.

Arrived at Milan-Bergamo airport a bit early and have about until 1 ½ HR flight to Malta on Ryanair.

The flight was uneventful. Ryanair uses the notorious Boeing 737-800. Quite a hard landing with a late touchdown and very hard braking. Deplaned (and boarded) from both ends of the plane using airstairs which seems quite a bit more efficient than USA protocols. Easy arrival, easy baggage claim, no passport checks, walked following signs and easily found our CarWiz rental agency.

Picked up the car and found we had a full sized Citeron C3 with right-hand-drive. Oh! Didn’t know Malta was RHD. Roads are very narrow, complex navigation, and a super small parking garage at the hotel. Driving here is going to be “interesting”.

Took a long walk about 40 minutes down to Marsaskala Harbor where we had dinner at The Corner View. A little cool sitting outside at night, but the food was quite good and the view was really nice. Kathi had lobster and shrimp ravioli - black and white sided, filled squares. Kathi assumes it was squid ink for the dark color.

On the walk back, Chris had a lot of chest pain with weird pains in his arm pits. Had to stop and rest about 5 times in 30 minutes.

The room at Mulberries has solid, weather sealed shutters so gets 100% dark. We slept well.
