I've been preparing for Cannonball for months, playing with welding up the auxiliary fuel tanks, wiring the bikes for USB charging, etc.
But today if becomes real for me. This afternoon I pick up Armando from PDX and we cook a big dinner for our send-off party.
Then tomorrow, Armando and I do a little shakedown ride to my shop in McMinnville about 65 miles from here, we change 4 scooter tires --- I hope that goes well,
then we ride back and change the oil.
Friday, we pack everything, visit a motorcycle shop to buy last minute gear upgrades and hopefully just chill knowing everything that can be done has been done.
Saturday, we ride 90 miles (about 2 hrs) to Seaside Oregon, check in, do tech inspection, and meet the crowd of 250+ of the 350+ registrants who actually make it to the start.
Then.... well, you have to wait to see...
7:30am and Armando is on his way to San Diego airport.
I met Leo last summer working on hauling mud out of my garden pond. Since then, he met Honey and got married while Kathi and I were away in Italy. We are sorry to have missed the wedding, so I wanted to have a little party to congratulate them after we got back. This looks like a nice opportunity with Armando visiting as well as Andy and Lizzie. It will make for a full dining room! I'm excited to cook with Armando.
