Leaving Auronzo

No breakfast, but a nice cup of coffee from the hotel bar to see me on my way

I love the morning light on the Dolomites

Passo Giovo Jaufenpass

The Dolomites are simply the best place in the world for motorcycling.
Such a nice way to be winding up a magnificent trip.

My lunch-time view

Heading back into Austria

Arriving Posthotel Strengen am Arlberg

Covered bridge restoration project

Across the street from my hotel is the Rosanna Bridge.
A big flood a few years ago knocked this old bridge down, but the EU funded a restoration where students from a traditional methods school rebuilt the bridge using mostly the original timbers and wood cut from the same forests as the original.
They cheated just a little and burried some screws in the structure. With these improvements, it might last more than another 250 years.

A typical community water fountain/spring output.

EV charger (minimalist) on the front of someone's house

Putin's legacy firewood stacks

With the war of Russia attacking Ukrain and the Nordstream gas pipeline sabotage along with uncertainty of Russia supplied gas, Europe went big on firewood in 2022. But the winter was mild and much of the wood remains unburned. Everywhere, but especially in the richer areas of Switzerland, Germany, and Austria, I saw these massive stacks of leftover firewood.

Dinner and some rest

My last day is tomorrow. I'm happy to be winding it up and sad at the same time.
The riding today really capped off the trip.
