Department Graduation Fiasco at NSH Concert Hall
Went to Andy's graduation. Great fiasco. 9:45-12:30, 1-2:30 outside, 2:30-4 very shortened ceremony but still long. People would leave after kids were done. Kids were outside in sun, not able to watch nor hear speakers. Andy chose to be nearly last for sun protection.
The problem was the NSH hall did not have capacity for the graduates and their families. So they tried to have the graduates wait outside, but it was hot out and initially all the graduates went inside and sat down. They had to clear the theater before they could let in the parents. They got started about 2 hours late and there was lots of booing and jeering from the quite-rude crowd. We were all tired from waiting in line for 2 hrs in the sun, but still I was embarrassed to be part of that nasty crowd.
The professors did their best and trimmed down the talking to a barest minimum. Still the crowd was unruley.
Out for Dinner at Asia Sushi & Chinese
Got a ride with a friend of kids back to Hoboken. Went to dinner at Asia Sushi & Chinese. Interesting place with a really really long menu of all kinds of Asian cuisine from Japanese Sushi to Korean Pho to classic Chinese.
Diploma
Back to their apartment until about 9, then to our hotel.
