Chance meeting an old friend

So, walking from the souvenir shop and looking for somewhere to eat, I hear someone yell out "Chris Uhlik". I turn and almost recognize this guy sitting in a cafe. It's Marin Saric who used to work for me on Project Ocean about 18 years ago. Back then he was a precocious kid of about 20 years old, hired on at Google because he placed something like 4th in a world programming competition. I remember he liked american muscle cars and drove a TransAm or Camero. Well, he remembered me well enough to pick me out of a crowd in Zagreb 20 years later. Kathi and I sat down and talked with Marin and his wife Chelsea for about 2 hours before walking them home. Chelsea is pregnant and due with her first baby in about 2 weeks, so she and Kathi had a lot to talk about. Unbelievable coincidence!

While we were talking, it rained hard at around 8:45pm for half an hour or so. The wind blew things over and everyone scrambled under cover. Then the rain stopped. It was as if nothing had happened. We encountered just a light rain on the ~3km walk back to our hotel.

I found the roof truss structure in the Zagreb airport fascinating.

RedBull Cliff Diving Championship

Official video of the event at redbull.com

Joe and I were not able to actually see any divers from the roads, but we had a good view of the rafts of spectators floating around the divers' entry point.

Motorcycle with Joe to check out the RedBull cliff diving championship

The RedBull cliff diving competition is well hidden behind that cliff behind those trees.
